In a little over a week, Grady paramedic Simeon Smith will take part in his fifth Peachtree Road Race, but the 28-year-old won’t be running or walking, he’ll be riding, as part of the Grady EMS bike medic team. This Fourth of July, Smith will be celebrating his survival.
Just as the Grady Health System has been undergoing a transformation, so has the Grady Health Foundation. Established 14 years ago to support the operations of Grady Hospital, the foundation has just doubled the size of its board and is bolstering its community presence and fundraising efforts. Several of the new board members represent companies that have made major gifts toward the $325 million Grady capital campaign, aimed at upgrading the hospital’s technology and facilities.

The Grady Health Foundation (GHF) today unveiled the ALL GOOD Ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital employees to start the ALL GOOD Ambulance Tour. As part of the 24-week, city-wide tour, the Ambulance will make appearances at Grady Neighborhood Health Centers, community events, places of worship, festivals and malls.
Georgia Power CEO Mike Garrett joins Grady Health System officials for the unveiling of the newly renovated Grady Memorial Hospital Burn Center onTuesday, May 11, at 10 a.m.

Former U.S. and Georgia First Lady Rosalynn Carter is the special guest for today’s opening of Grady Health System’s new comprehensive outpatient mental health facility, the Auburn Avenue Recovery Center. Known worldwide for her work to improve the quality of life for those suffering from mental illness, Mrs. Carter joins health system officials in celebrating the expansion of mental health services available for adults, adolescents and children in Atlanta and the state.
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation recently recognized The Grady Health Foundation for Excellence in Restoration for its restoration of the Goddard Chapel. The John N. Goddard Memorial Chapel is located within Grady Memorial Hospital. Years of neglect and vandalism plagued the chapel until the decision was made to restore it to its original luster.
Grady Memorial Hospital today unveiled its newest achievement to improve the health and lives of Georgians. The Marcus Stroke & Neuroscience Center becomes a reality this week through a generous gift from the Marcus Foundation. Grady’s Stroke Center is already one of the leaders in stroke care in the Southeast, thanks to the dedication and multi-specialty approach of its team in diagnosing and treating stroke patients.
