Grady foundation bolsters board, fundraising

Just as the Grady Health System has been undergoing a transformation, so has the Grady Health Foundation. Established 14 years ago to support the operations of Grady Hospital, the foundation has just doubled the size of its board and is bolstering its community presence and fundraising efforts. Several of the new board members represent companies that have made major gifts toward the $325 million Grady capital campaign, aimed at upgrading the hospital’s technology and facilities.

Former U.S. and Georgia First Lady Rosalynn Carter is the special guest for today’s opening of Grady Health System’s new comprehensive outpatient mental health facility, the Auburn Avenue Recovery Center. Known worldwide for her work to improve the quality of life for those suffering from mental illness, Mrs. Carter joins health system officials in celebrating the expansion of mental health services available for adults, adolescents and children in Atlanta and the state.

Grady Chapel Receives Excellence in Restoration Award

The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation recently recognized The Grady Health Foundation for Excellence in Restoration for its restoration of the Goddard Chapel. The John N. Goddard Memorial Chapel is located within Grady Memorial Hospital. Years of neglect and vandalism plagued the chapel until the decision was made to restore it to its original luster.
